The MTX Audio TNP212D is an amplified bass system sure to make your heart pound. With this package, there is no need to worry about which amp goes with which sub because it has already been done for you. How awesome is that! This package includes 2 Terminator subwoofers that are enclosed in a sealed box and a MTX Audio TN250/1 monoblock amplifier. This enclosure package was created with one thing in mind: to terminate the competition who make cheap loaded subwoofer systems.
The Terminator series subwoofers push 200 watts each for a max of 400 watts per pair. This power handling is more than enough to make your presence known when driving down the street. The rubber surround makes this subwoofer capable of withstanding all of this power. It provides strength and durability while you are bumpin’ through the street. The subwoofer enclosure is a dual 12” sealed box with MDF solid construction allowing the bass to be heard loud and clear.
Last but not least, the monoblock amplifier features a class D design that will push 200 watts at 2 ohms. It has LED Indicators and built-in adaptive cooling fans so your amp doesn’t get to hot. This amplifier is a perfect addition to this subwoofer and enclosure.
MTX built this enclosure to the perfect specifications for the subs and the amp to perform at their best. Leave your fear of a bad system at the door and enjoy hours of clean, loud bass.
In case you missed the previous post, I will be reporting live from the SEMA Show all day today. Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, the SEMA Show is the premier car specialty products convention in the world. In my previous post from earlier today, I promised that I would tell you all about the Scosche brand’s exhibit. Without further ado, here are my thoughts on the Scosche booth: the first thing you see is their back wall, which is decked out with all of their fine installation accessories. Of course, you can’t miss the two fabulous show cars on display–a 2008 Subaru STI and the crown jewel of their exhibit, a custom-designed Nissan Cube.
The Nissan Cube was jaw-dropping. As soon as I glanced at the cargo area behind the backseat, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The cargo area was rigged with two illuminated rotating cubes, each loaded with a 10″ EFX subwoofer. At this point I was already blown away, but that wasn’t all. The Nissan Cube had amplifiers mounted in the floor panels! That’s right, Scosche put an amplifier into the floorspace in front of each seat for a total of four amps mounted in the floorboard! They used plexiglass to seal the amplifier in place so that passengers can look down under their feet and see the amplifiers below. Scosche loaded the door panels with EFX speakers to complete the EFX theme. As far as the Subaru STI, the thing that caught my eye was the way they used a special plexiglass box to house an EFX subwoofer in the trunk. The see-through box gave this vehicle’s system an extremely clean look and was the highlight of the vehicle.
I also made my way outdoors and browsed through some of the specialty custom show cars on display. There are literally thousands of cars here, so I have yet to see them all, but just in the last hour or so I have seen countless gems. Two of my favorites include a 2008 Chevy Avalanche designed with a Guitar Hero / Rockband theme and a bright yellow Mustang loaded with top of the line KICKER car audio products. We hope to have pictures of these cars uploaded by the end of the week.
Be sure to check back as we will continue to provide live blogs, photos and videos from the hottest automotive show in the world, the SEMA Show in Las Vegas!
Hello loyal readers, I’m checking in from Las Vegas, home of the annual SEMA Show convention, the world’s largest automotive specialty products event. As I type, I am literally surrounded by competition cars loaded with the finest car audio products on the market! Check back today for updates, I will be periodically live-blogging throughout the day today, and again on Thursday.
All of the industry leading brands such as KICKER, Pioneer, and Alpine are on-site displaying their fantastic show cars loaded with aftermarket audio equipment. KICKER’s black Ford Mustang featured oversized midwoofers custom-mounted in the front door panels. This created a sound equivalent to having subwoofers mounted in the door panels, which as you can imagine, really ratchets the bass up a notch! The KICKER reps also showed us their marine speaker bass tube concept designs, which are essentially KICKER speakers custom-designed for bass tube enclosures. This concept enables you to safely mount KICKER speakers on your boat.
The Scosche booth was pretty amazing as well, I will provide more on that later today. Stay tuned as we will be posting exclusive videos, photos, and tidbits to help give you an in-depth look at this awesome event. SonicElectronix TV host Seth Wilde will also be hosting on-camera interviews with the top car audio manufacturers. More updates to come!
It may not feel like summer any more, but don’t let that discourage you from purchasing the latest head unit for your boat. We currently have 3 Sony packages that are sure to have everything you will need and more while out on your boat. Each package includes a Sony head unit and, as a bonus, a wired remote control. These marine stereos have a boat theme that should blend in great with your boat’s interior, and they are built to last.

The CDX-H905IP MP3 player puts a fresh face on marine audio components with a bright display and intuitive controls. It features CD, MP3 and WMA playback and will play all your favorite music while cruisin’ out on the water. Not only do you get amazing sound playback from the CD and MP3 player, there is also a built-in iPod adapter located on the back of the head unit. This allows for a direct connection from your iPod to the receiver. And without the need for any extra cables, you can easily plug your iPod in for hours of music. As for audio features, there is the EQ3 Equalizer with seven preset tone curves and a dynamic soundstage organizer. The Sony CDX-H905IP has the option for Sirius or XM Satellite radio and HD radio playback as well.
Second, the Sony CDX-M60Ui combo includes the CDX-M60Ui marine CD player with MP3 and WMA playback and the RM-X11M remote. While this unit doesn’t have direct iPod connection, the rear USB input allows the connection of an iPod with a standard iPod cable. If you don’t have an iPod, a USB thumb drive preloaded with music will also work with this option. The built-in amplifier will carry the music through any type of weather, while the equalizer works to produce a perfect blend of frequencies. Along with CD, MP3, WMA and iPod playback, you have the option of adding Sirius satellite radio or HD radio to your head unit. All of these “extras” combined make this feature-packed head unit a must-have for both car audio enthusiasts and beginners alike.
Lastly, the Sony CDX-HS70MW combo consists of a basic marine head unit and the RM-X11M remote. The CDX-HS70MW stereo is specially designed to withstand the marine environment. It comes with CD, MP3, and WMA playback capabilities for reliable entertainment while on the water. Unlike the previous two receivers, this one does not come with a built-in iPod cable, but it does have a separate module that needs to be purchased for iPod playback. Don’t let that deter you though; this head unit is a great buy! The built-in amplifier will play your music over any type of noise and can use an external amp for extra power. This receiver also comes with the ability to add on satellite and HD radio, making the possibilities endless.
And, as mentioned, you will receive the Sony RX-X11M Marine remote with each one of these CD player combos (Note: you can also purchase any of the CD players separately). It has a splash-proof design made specifically for Sony marine stereos. With its large, easy to use buttons, you will have no problem controlling the volume, source selection, mode and turning the stereo off.
Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to get a wonderful head unit with a bonus wired remote for the fraction of the cost!

One of the coolest aspects of my job is that I somehow get paid to take a first-hand look at some of the top products in the car audio industry. Sweet gig, right? When I found out my latest assignment was to evaluate the Sony XS-LB10S, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. As a truck owner, enclosed subwoofer boxes are an interest of mine since they can fit right under the seat and save cargo space. After testing it on-site, I came away impressed with the sound quality and bass emitted from this loaded enclosure.
After connecting an amplifier to power the sub and a music source to play some tunes, I was able to observe this subwoofer’s strengths and weaknesses. First off, I was amazed at its level of bass considering its shallow-design. The cone excursion flexed rhythmically and did not miss a beat. The sound check showed that the Sony XS-LB10S subwoofer does not emit muddy bass or poor sound quality. The only signs of distortion where when I tried to push it to its furthest limits.
The grill and sub cone look great, though I was lamenting the fact that the two-bar grill design only partially covers the subwoofer. This could be a problem if I mounted this sub box in the back of my truck since I typically toss supplies in the back seat without regard for my seats/audio components. The front firing design hits hard with the beat and noticeably pushes air around. It would look great behind or below your seats, or even in the trunk for sedan owners.
The XS-LB10S sub exceeded my expectations and is definitely worth a look if you are in the market for a loaded subwoofer enclosure. The shallow-mount sealed enclosure design is ideal for vehicles with limited space. Whether you install it behind your seats or underneath them, this sealed box setup is the perfect piece for adding bass without wasting space. At 330 watts RMS you get a whole lot of bass for your buck!
