Save Yourself From Installation Hassles with the JBL GTO EZ Amplifier Series

Matching up the perfect amplifiers with your car audio system can be a difficult task. We’re always excited at Sonic Electronix to see a diverse line of amplifiers in a series, especially when they’re designed to fit a large variety of car audio systems. These amplifiers in question are the JBL GTO EZ Series of amplifiers. Offering different amplifiers for practically every configuration, the JBL GTO EZ Amplifiers are offered in five channel, four channel, three channel, and monoblock configurations. Adding to their diversity, there are two separate four channel amplifiers, and three monoblock amplifiers to choose from, depending on the amount of wattage you’re looking for.

The four-channel configurations of the JBL GTO EZ series amplifiers are the GTO-504EZ and the GTO-804EZ. Both amplifiers are designed with quality crossovers and adjustments for gain control and bass boost. The smaller GTO-504EZ offers 50W to 4 channels at 4 ohms, and 75W to 4 channels at 2 ohms. The GTO-804EZ boasts a higher rating of 80W to 4 channels at 4 ohms, and 100W to 4 channels at 2 ohms. You can also use both amplifiers in two channel configuration, eliminating the need for a 2 channel amplifier.

The monoblock amplifiers in this series are offered in three different configurations. From a minimum of 350W, all the way up to a whopping 1000W of RMS power, these amplifiers can take care of any subwoofer application. The GTO-501EZ is rated at 350W RMS at 4 ohms, and 500W RMS at 2 ohms. The next step up is the GTO-751EZ with a power rating of 500W RMS at 4 ohms, and 750W RMS at 2 ohms. Finally is the big daddy, the GTO-1001EZwith a rating of 650W of RMS power at 4 ohms, and 1000W of RMS power at 2 ohms. All three of the amplifiers also have easily accessible tuning to make sure your system is always sounding at its best.

The 5-Channel JBL GTO-5EZ is designed to power a full audio system, including dedicated output for a subwoofer

Finally offered in this lineup is the 5 channel GTO-5EZ as well as the unique 3 channel GTO-3EZ. Similar in configuration, both of these amplifiers offer front channels for speakers, and a dedicated high powered channel for a subwoofer. The 5 channel GTO-5EZ allows you to power four total door speakers, as well as the subwoofer. The 3-channel allows only two speakers and a subwoofer. Both of these configurations are designed to eliminate the need of a separate monoblock amplifier, saving space, time and installation cost, without sacrificing audio quality. The JBL GTO EZ Series of amplifiers is perfect for any amplifier requirement, no matter the specific configuration you require. Check them out today!

Can Installing Car Audio Equipment Void My Vehicle Warranty?

For Once the Law is on Your Side!

“We told him that his vehicle warranty was void and he bought it!”

Have you ever wondered if there are any disadvantages to installing audio equipment, remote starts, or overhead monitors in your vehicle? You may have heard someone say that doing these types of installs will void your vehicle’s manufacturer warranty. The law can be a tricky beast to tame and can often lead to much confusion on matters such as these. To put it frankly, your vehicle warranty will not be voided due to these types of installs, so long as they are done properly.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a federal law created in 1975 which establishes warranty requirements, states the following:

“Warranties, written or implied, cannot be conditioned on the consumer’s use of any article or service identified by brand, trade, or corporate name. This prohibition against conditioning warranties on the use of authorized items or services can only be waived by the Federal Trade Commission if two specific factors are found: 1) The Federal Trade Commission is satisfied that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used and 2) The Federal Trade Commission finds it is in the public interest. The Federal Trade Commission in determining what is in the public interest, seeks and accepts comments from the public.”

After reading this you may be ripping your hair out in confusion. However, when you break it down, it turns out to be quite simple. To void the warranty, the manufacturer must convince the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that the installation or service will cause a malfunction to the vehicle and that it is in the public’s best interest to do so. This is very hard for manufacturers to accomplish considering the technological and economic availability of third party accessory options. Vehicles of this day and age feature a lot more electronic integration. For this reason, it is hard to say that the source of a malfunction in your vehicle is the result of aftermarket accessories. If your Manufacturer or dealer tries to tell you that your vehicles warranty is void due to a third party installation or service, then ask them for the determination from the FTC which supports the claim. You can even go as far as to contact the FTC yourself to preserve your warranty. Don’t let the man bring you down! Fight for your warranty rights today!

JBL MS Series Amps

Choosing an amplifier that is right for your application can always be a tough task to undertake. We have some favorites here at Sonic, and none are as unique as the JBL MS Series of amplifiers. These amplifiers are capable of digital signal processing, so as the sound gets amplified it also is refined to make sure that the final product sounds exceptional every time. This digital processing capability is highly sought after by audiophiles, and is found on every MS series amplifier by JBL.

Power Output
The JBL MS Series of amplifiers consists of two different amps – a four channel and a monoblock. The MS-A1004 four channel amplifier is capable of pushing 100 watts of RMS power to four different channels at both four and two ohms, meaning a constant power output regardless of impedance. The MS-A5001 monoblock also has a consistent power source allowing for 500 watts of RMS power regardless of impedance. The MS Series of amplifiers are not 1 ohm stable.

Setup CD
Adding to its unique attributes, the JBL MS Series of amplifiers requires a setup CD to run through the system. This CD plays through test tones and allows the amplifier to calibrate itself to your audio system. During this initial setup process you have a chance to eliminate all potential issues to help ensure that you have the best possible audio signal. When running through the setup, the detailed display on the MS Series amplifiers truly helps you understand what’s going on in your audio system.

Graphical Status Display
There is not another series of amplifiers you will find that provides information like the JBL MS Series. The display provides information regarding input sensitivity, channel selection, high and low pass filters, gains, protection status, and other information. The input sensitivity display actually helps make sure that your amplifier settings are perfect, by indicating whether or not it’s set too high or low. The high and low pass filters actually can help make sure that you have the setting down to the perfect hertz. By having a graphical display it eliminates the guess work. Want your low pass at 82.5 Hz? No problem with the MS Series.

The MS-WBC is a completely wireless bass remote knob

The fun doesn’t stop with just the awesome amplifier itself. The MS Series of amplifiers features two optional accessories that both have some awesome benefits. First is the remote bass controller. A common accessory for most amplifiers, this has an extremely useful perk. The MS-WBC remote bass knob is completely wireless, allowing for connectivity with your amplifier and the easiest possible installation and relocation imaginable. Also available is the JBL MS-8 the ultimate system integrator. If you want to hook up an aftermarket system with your MS Amps, the MS-8 is what you should look for. Check out our blog on the MS-8 if you’re interested in the integration capabilities of this fantastic device.
