JVC Mobile Entertainment Wins CNET Award
Thursday, September 11th, 2008We thought so highly of the KD AVX44 “El Kameleon” that we decided to feature it on one of our product videos. Apparently CNET feels the same way. The article below announced that the KDAVX44 was honored with the CNET Editor’s Choice award, pretty impressive considering any car audio product is eligible for nomination. The coolest thing about the KD-AVX44 is its hidden controls that are activated by proximity sensors. As you reach towards the head unit, the controls turn on. Then when you take your hand away from the faceplate, the LEDs turn off for an all-black, sleek appearance.
Friday, September 05, 2008 — SAN FRANCISCO — JVC Mobile Entertainment has announced that it received a CNET Editors’ Choice award for its El Kameleon KD-AVX44 receiver, which features in-dash DVD/DivX-video playback, Bluetooth connectivity, proximity sensor and a USB port for digital audio devices or iPod playback.
The coveted CNET Editors’ Choice award recognizes outstanding consumer electronics products that represent the best available choice for quality, performance, design, service and value. Its logo is a mark of excellence denoting the best possible investment for consumers, according to JVC.
CNET Editors’ Choice winners are recognized as top products in their respective technology categories, and contribute to the standard by which all future products are judged. A key selection requirement is that it must also change the competitive landscape of its market, whether through innovative features, exceptional value for the price, remarkable ease of use, or a demonstrable boost to the lives of its users, according to the company.
The KD-AVX44 brings back the trademark El Kameleon blackout faceplate, which was first launched by JVC Mobile in 1999. Complementing the extensive package of audio and visual features, its single-DIN DVD theft-deterrent faceplate allows the receiver to go into stealth mode, appearing black when the vehicle is not in use. The unique touch panel features electrostatic technology that allows control of the receiver by touch on its modern, no-buttons design. The El Kameleon faceplate is also detachable to offer further anti-theft benefit. A proximity sensor in the faceplate illuminates the smart panel when your hand approaches to give a new command.
“We are very excited about this honor from CNET as their Editors’ Choice award has become the hallmark of technology, quality, and innovation, and its logo is a symbol consumers know and trust,” said Chad Vogelsong, JVC Mobile’s general manager of marketing. “This is an exceptional achievement, and we are very proud to be recognized for our dedication and commitment to producing the highest quality products available today.”
