Dear Cody – What’s the Deal with Some of Your Prices?

Welcome back to another installment of “Dear Cody.” In today’s issue, we have a customer who is concerned over higher prices on some of our items and wants to know why the prices are the way they are. Let’s help him out!

CarShow CS9000-MM

Dear Cody,

I was browsing through your guy’s site and I noticed that some of your products have way higher prices than other items. For example, the Car Show CS9000-MM is way more expensive than the Audiovox AVXMTGHR1D even though their specs and features are pretty similar. What gives? Why would I spend that kind of money on a couple of headrest monitors when I can get them for less than half that price? Same with the Brandmotion 9002-9515 and the VTG43. The Brandmotion mirror doesn’t even do GPS like the Boyo Vision one! I’ve been a loyal customer but I’m almost wondering if you’re trying to rip us off with those prices. What’s going on Sonic? I thought you guys were supposed to be the low price experts. Please help!!!!

Concerned Over Really High Prices

Dear Concerned Over Really High Prices,

Great question, I totally hear ya. There are some items that seem waaaay out of the ballpark with their prices so let me break it down for you.

We carry aftermarket and OEM quality products. Aftermarket products like the ones made by Pioneer, Kenwood, Kicker etc., are made according to their own standards of quality and are not necessarily made to integrate with any specific vehicle. Some aftermarket products are going to be of much higher quality than others; however we want to carry a wide selection of products—from entry level to competition grade—in order to provide products to suit all of our customers budgets. Just because a product is cheap doesn’t mean it won’t work well or suit your application but sometimes you get what you pay for.

On the other hand, we carry OEM quality products. These products, like the Brandmotion and Car Show ones you mentioned, are made according to the car manufacturers’ quality standards. This means that they are of the same high caliber as the products you would find at car dealers, and are made to integrate seamlessly with specific vehicles. For example, if you were to buy the Car Show CS9000-MM, you would enter in your vehicle information and the product would be made to the specs of your exact vehicle—even down to matching the EXACT stitching pattern used in your car. Pretty cool huh?

When it comes down to it, it’s all about quality. The highest aftermarket quality standards still fall short of the lowest OEM quality standards. We want to keep all of our customer’s budgets in mind which is why we offer less expensive items and more expensive items. Less expensive items are built with only cost in mind so some may sacrifice better materials in order to keep the cost as low as possible. For an aftermarket product to be considered OEM grade, it has to go through a long series of quality control tests to ensure the product meets rigorous factory requirements.

There’s no need to worry about prices when shopping with us though. If you ever find a product we sell for a lower price on a competitor’s site, simply use our Low Price Guarantee and we’ll beat the competitor’s price by up to 105%. Don’t forget to look for our ‘Make an Offer’ button on the product pages either. We are bound by agreements with some manufacturers to maintain a certain price online. However, the ‘Make an Offer’ button allows you to submit the price you want to pay, and if it’s within reason, we’ll approve the offer and let you add the product to your cart at the price you submitted. Just another way to help you save money on the products you want to buy.

If you ever need help finding a quality product to fit your budget, you’re always free to give our friendly customer service reps a call at 1-877-289-7664.

Hope this helps!

The Future of Car Audio

What Does the Future Hold?

Vehicle manufacturers are becoming more adaptive at implementing the latest technologies into their vehicles

Car audio is a constantly changing animal.  We have come a long way from the early days of car audio in which people thought it was an expensive luxury to enjoy sweet melodies while you drive.  Nowadays, people not only expect to have audio in their car, but expect other features such as navigation, bluetooth, smartphone integration, video playback, and many other convenient features.  So what does the future of car audio hold for you?  How will newly developing technology affect your future purchases of not only car audio but for cars in general?  These things don’t only affect you but they affect us as well!

As modern vehicles become more advanced, they are becoming more integrated as well. Vehicle manufacturers are starting to realize the importance and popularity of car audio and video and are taking measures to give the consumer that all-in-one experience they are looking for.  The demand for watching movies on the go has had explosive growth with the decreasing cost of LCD monitors and DVD players.  As a result, OEM audio systems are going to be more surround sound oriented.

App integration is rapidly increasing in popularity

Smartphones are another thing that are starting to change the car audio world as we know it.  We have started to see the emergence of smartphone integration with the likes of Pandora and Aha radio apps being integrated into aftermarket receivers and even in some new OEM systems.  Even more integration is starting to be present with the Pioneer AppRadio2 which can utilize other apps and functionality such as navigation directly from your iPhone.  The future will definetly see more app integration in vehicles.  Apple is even hinting at Siri integration in the near future!

All of this talk about vehicle integration might raise the question as to why anyone would need to buy aftermarket car audio equipment.  Even though vehicles have become more integrated, they still usually have cheap, stock speakers, limited bass output, limited  music equalization, and restricted sound quality all together.  It will be a very long time until you can say that your stock sound system could over glorify that of a well-tuned, aftermarket sound system.  This can apply to other realms as well such as Keyless entry alarm and remote start systems.   The future of car audio is not entirely clear, but one thing is for certain and that is that people will always look to aftermarket when their stock system is not enough.
